If you plan on wearing a corset or trying your hand at waist training you may be wondering if you need to wear something under your corset or waist trainer.
Although everyone is going to have their own personal preferences, I would definitely recommend you wear something underneath your corset. When it comes to a latex waist trainer, you may or may not need something underneath but it’s still probably a good idea to have something under the garment.
Wearing something underneath your corset will help to preserve the shape and will also mean less cleaning on your delicate garment. This means that you can get more money out of your corset as you it will last longer for you.
Also, a lot of women find that it is a lot more comfortable on their skin to have something underneath their trainer rather than having it right on top of their skin. It can help with any irritation or chafing from the corset or trainer.
What Do You Wear Under a Corset or Waist Trainer?
That being said, what exactly should you wear under your corset?
There are a few different options that I would recommend depending on how you wear your corset as well as what you may feel comfortable with.
The first option is a simple camisole underneath your corset. I would recommend a tight fitting camisole and would even recommend that you buy a shapewear camisole to get the best outcome.
A corset is meant to be as tight as possible so you aren’t going to want a loose cami underneath. Instead you want something that will fit tightly right across your body to prevent things like wrinkles and bulges that can be uncomfortable under the corset.
You can pick up something simple like a shapewear camisole from Maidenform and not have to pay that much money and then there is no worrying about your corset rubbing against your skin or getting dirty from your body oils.
You can even find some shapewear camisoles that feature built-in bra cups so you don’t have to wear a bra underneath it as well. This may be nicer option for hotter months when you may not want to wear a bra, cami, and your corset.
You could also wear a regular t-shirt underneath your corset as well but again you want to make sure it fits snugly and is not too thick. Wearing a shirt that is too thick may inhibit your waist training progress.
A corset liner is another option for wearing underneath your waist trainer or corset. These corset liners aren’t available in most department stores but you can find them at most corset boutiques. They fit tightly across your waist area and simply act as a barrier between your skin and the corset. They help to absorb sweat and dirt from your body but are also comfortable against your skin.
If you can’t find an actual corset liner, you can also use something like a shapewear underwear that has a high waist. Most of the high waist shapewear undergarments go up to right under the bra line which would be a good fit for under a waist trainer. And since they are a shapewear material they are tight across your midsection and won’t bunch up under the corset.
When determining what you should wear under a corset just keep a few simple things in mind. Is it comfortable against your skin? Is it tight enough that it won’t bunch or wrinkle or prevent your corset from fitting properly. Can you easily wash the garment?
I have known some women who simply pick up a few cheap cotton camisoles from Target or WalMart and have no problem wearing them underneath their corset while some others will spend the money for an actual corset liner. You may have to try a few things to see what works for you and still gives you the waist training results you are looking for.
